'Portable Songs' started with an exploration of half-finished tracks and old demos on my portastudio. This was added to by re-listening to some pieces made with Logic Express and, having decided on a half-dozen to work on initially, the final trio presented here was arrived at.

'The Ventriloquist' started as part of a suite of songs built up from TR-808 drum sounds. 'Throwing Caution To The Wind' is a bit of an old favourite, and with its mention of a "propaganda coup" seemed quite of the moment. 'Bruges', by my standards, is almost a pop song and so features some gleefully excessive pitch-correction software on its lead vocal... quite a contrast from the "stand at the mic and simply tell it" approach taken with 'Throwing Caution...'

Though obvious in the final track, all three songs presented here have in some way been influenced by various visits to Belgium. I look forward to returning there at some point :-)
